DECOUPLED II Molding Workshop
RJG's Practical Hands-On DECOUPLED Workshop was developed to apply and reinforce learning objectives from the lecture based Systematic Molding I course right in your facility. The workshops can be customized to help customers implement a standardized approach to developing, optimizing, and trouble-shooting robust injection molding production processes. After attending and successfully completing our DECOUPLED II Workshop, your employees will be able to evaluate current molding processes and identify potential areas of improvement using DECOUPLED MOLDINGSM techniques. After the workshop students should be able to:
- Perform the following initial machine qualification tests, such as: Load Sensitivity, Pressure Response, Injection Speed Linearity, Dynamic Check Ring Repeatability Test, and Clamp / Mold Deflection Study.
- Identify mold performance requirements, identify actual machine performance, and select the best machine for the mold.
- Use DECOUPLED MOLDINGSM techniques to evaluate a mold during the build phase and identify mold weaknesses and improvements.
- Build and document a robust DECOUPLED process and process template that can be repeated/matched on any properly sized, production-capable injection molding machine.
- Perform a 30/30 melt test.
- Create a mold/part temperature map.
- Perform a shear-rate viscosity study for any mold / material combination to determine the optimal injection speed (plastic flow rate).
- Perform a gate seal study to determine optimal hold time.
- Perform a dynamic pressure loss test.
- Identify the cavity balance at all injection speeds.
This knowledge should lead to improved mold quality, reduced or eliminated new mold start-up runs and costs, reduced part variability and scrap, optimized cycle times, and reduced time spent on trouble-shooting. At the conclusion of the workshop the information learned as well as return on investment figures will be presented to management. This workshop can result in an immediate return on investment due to the necessity of each student putting into full practice all knowledge gained from RJG training.
